FEEL it, MOVE it, RELEASE it, heal it...

It’s amazing how much we can learn from our children AND how beautifully we can re-parent ourselves when we leave shame and judgement behind. Awareness is the key!

ALL parents feel their kids emotions to some degree, if you’re a highly sensitive empathic parent like me you feel it on an extremely deep level. It can be really hard not to soak in and FEEL EVERYTHING your kid is feeling. That can be overwhelming and intense. So naturally when anger and other heavy emotions rise you want to shift the energy quickly. Instead PAUSE, BREATHE and remember that emotions are energy in motion and the only way to heal is to feel and move that energy through the body! You got this!

Release, Release, Release...

Ever since childhood my emotions were shut down. I was told I was too dramatic, over emotional and just too much. I was always told not to cry, to just be happy and that it could always be worse. I spent a lifetime trying to fit into a non-emotional box.

It took years of anxiety, depression, illness, loss, grief and cancer to show me the importance of sitting with and feeling my emotions. And just how essential it was to let them rise and RELEASE them.

Signs, messages and a ritual for momma...

My momma loved roses. She loved all flowers, really. I remember when I was younger it was daisies she favored. I’d buy them for her on Mother’s Day. They were the flowers I chose to lay on her casket before she was buried. They made her happy.

She worked at a garden nursery when I was young. Years later her back yard was an outdoor oasis. The pool surrounded by gorgeous blooms, bushes and garden chachkis. There were birdhouses, fairy statues, bird baths and a relaxing little waterfall under a tree. When you stepped into that back yard you were transported from a suburban/urban town to a magic garden filled with love and roses.

Don't be afraid to FEEL JOY....

I believe we get signs from spirit, goddess, great mother or whatever words you prefer. They send us messages…TONS of messages in SO many different ways: birds, butterflies, bunnies, billboards, numbers, songs, movies, oracle/tarot cards, conversations, tea bags…the possibilities are endless. Sometimes they bang us over the dang head with the same message in different ways because we’re not paying attention.

Spring Ritual...

Before my spiritual awakening was in full swing, before I truly began to dance with the goddess, I’d hear the word “ritual” and think…religion/bad/scary wacko thing witches and pagans do. Thank you patriarchy and Hollywood.

In studying the scared feminine healing arts, I understand the witch, paganism and earth-based spirituality in an entirely new, luminous light. I see the witch archetype as a wise and powerful woman and earth-based spirituality my remembered temple. The Great Mother, my beloved mentor and ritual, has become something I crave.

As the world spins madly on...

Yesterday on the dark moon, I sat in sacred space. I took some time to quiet the chaos, breathe and just BE. Recently I’ve discovered one of my gifts is to ask a question, put pencil to paper and allow the words to flow. A form of channeling I suppose. Are these messages from my own inner wisdom or an outer divine energy?

It’s a practice…

The world...life, it's all so heavy these days. I’d venture to guess everyone is feeling this intense energy. As a highly sensitive empath, I know some of us are feeling it even deeper. This strange and uncertain energy has put me into a bit of a frozen state these days. Freeze mode.

Mother Nature is my teacher...

As a highly sensitive empath, I’ve learned over the past few years that Mother Nature is an incredible teacher. We’re deep processors, we get overstimulated and overwhelmed easily. Studying the seasons, the elements, the lunar and solar cycles can really help you get to know, understand, and honor yourself on a much deeper level.

If you’re new to understanding your high sensitivity, I highly recommend spending more time in nature and creating space for quiet alone time. Combining the two is pretty magical.

New Beginnings...

Last week, mid-May, the very first peony began to open. They really are my most favorite flowers. Just when you think they can’t open anymore, they magically do. All of this is to say that just because our hopes and dreams might be put on hold for now, it’s all in the timing. Maybe mother nature needed us to all slow down and remember what it’s like to be a human BEING. We’re so busy, hustling to some imaginary finish line that doesn’t even exist.

A remembering on Mother's Day...

My wish for all the women that embody the mother energy…

the mommas, aunties, grandmas, teachers, guardians and special friends. Those that hold the energy of the mother—the sacred feminine energy that holds, loves, supports, nurtures and nourishes those around them—this is for you.

Just breathe…

Something had to shift before I hit the ground. Before my body completely gave up on me. I could feel her getting weaker with each chronic illness and all the lovely side effects. So, I dug deep, I fought my way through the anxiety and depression and I dug deeper than I’d ever thought possible.

Soul Survival

All the while the universe was working its magic and I was falling gracefully into the dance. I was feeling my emotions, letting them out. Screaming. Crying. The darkness felt different this time. Heavier yet strangely fresh. A rebirth of sorts. I was learning to dance in the darkness and to feel my emotions without judgment. Therapy was helping me move mountains and I was surrendering to the pain and committed to making changes in my life.

My First oracle deck ended up in the trash!

A rush of remembering and familiarity ran over me as I put on my mala, lit some candles and prepared for my first reading. The connection to these cards was magnetic. The messages were spot on. This empowered me to go deeper and start journaling again.

The oracle cards were helping to crack me open while guiding me, reassuring me and connecting me to myself and the energy around me.

How motherhood started my self-care journey...

I've always struggled with self-care. It's always been easier to care for others, put them first, make sure everyone around me is happy and content, no matter the personal expense. What I discovered from a lifetime of this practice is that it's exhausting and it's impossible. You can't please everyone. It's detrimental to hold yourself responsible for the happiness of others.
